Great Recipes

OK, you have to check out this blog. I just realized the other day that Annemarie wrote a food blog too! She has some great recipes here with awesome photos. I hate recipes that don't show me a picture! I made the chili the other night and I have tried several chili recipes and this was by far the easiest and the tastiest! We loved it. My sister, Angie made the Sloppy Joes and she fell in love with them and with Taste Buds.

Kudos, Annemarie!! My mom and my sister are always looking thru cookbooks and recipes online and I shared your blog and they love it too. I am not a great cook (big surprise) but these recipes are easy and inviting and I can't wait to try even more of them. I just had to share it with everyone. (I hope you don't mind!)

Such a big girl

This is mainly for her aunt Angie, who wishes she could live closer, but Mady is getting so big and changing every day so I thought I would post some new pictures of her. She is 10mos old now, has 2 teeth ( and working on more), crawls EVERYWHERE and we call her the bear because she growls like one (no kidding) and now she is crawling like one (it's much faster). She hits you in the face then mocks you after you say "Owie" by saying "Owie" right back at you. Her hair is getting longer, in large patches on the top and the back, and she is starting to look like a big girl more and more each day.

her new swimming suit! She had so much fun swimming!
Her carseat faces Logan and he keeps her very entertained in the car.

Silly girl, can't keep her eyes open for the flash.

Mommy and the bear

She liked the dinosaurs too.

Spring Break

We went to Utah this year for spring break. Alexis has been learning about dinosaurs so we wanted to take her to the Museum of Ancient Life and we of course had to go shopping! We had a lot of fun. It was good to get away and just relax. The kids really enjoyed the museum and the At the Farm exhibit next door. Lisa and her family came down to visit Robert's family so we all met in Park City and had a full day of retail therapy at the outlet mall! I prefer to call it retail therapy, it's almost as if it is actually serving a function when you put it that way. All in all it was a laid back, fun week.

riding the horses at The Farm
lovely posture, Logan.

Brookie LOVED riding her little horsie!

why can't they all look at the same time???

Hands-on exhibit at the museum

Alexis really enjoyed looking at the fossils

If you're going to Utah...you gotta go to Fudruckers!!!

Rockin' on at Fudruckers

Spring Break

OK all you Utah readers.....

We are thinking of taking the kids to Thanksgiving Point next week during spring break. Alexis is doing a unit on dinosaurs at school and we thought it would be fun to take them to the dinosaur museum. Other than that and the Hogle Zoo, (and shopping of course!) I was curious if you had any other suggestions for fun things to do in Utah.....

Proud Mommy Moment

Ok, so I took the kids to DI because they had these cool chair/desk things that I decided that we needed. On the way there Alexis says "I'm gunna make a list of the things we buy and how much we spend." Me: "yeah, OK, whatever."

So we get the chair things and I add some other treasures to the cart as well. When I'm all done, I say alright, let's go and Alexis says "Wait a minute." And she starts to add up everything in the cart. The total? $51. Fifty one dollars! ? At DI!! So she starts to go thru the cart. "We don't need this, and we don't need this, and we already have this..." So, I smile inside because apparently she has listened to some of the things I have tried to teach her and I start to return the unnecessary things to the shelves. We compromised on a couple of things and we headed to the check stand.

The new total? $30. That's right, $30.

I told her I was so proud of her for being such a responsible girl and I was happy she had listened to me. To which she replies "I know, I watched Oprah talk about this!"

Oprah or not, I am still proud.

Look Who's Baaaack!!

Holy Heck!!! Mattel is bringing back Barbie and the Rockers!!!! She looks just like she did in the 80's!! Ahhhh, sweet sweet nostalgia.....
I loved Barbie and the Rockers! Maybe the Easter Bunny will bring it to my girls...yeah, that's it, for my girls...

OK.....The List!

Just because Sarah requested it.....(and because I'm really hyper from the mocha I just downed in record time!!)

1. Dancing with the Stars
2. So you think you can dance?
3. American Idol
4. Survivor
5. Big Brother
6. Big Brother After Dark (my reason for having Showtime. This favorite of mine consumes 3 hrs a day!!!good thing its only on for a few weeks!)
7. Rock of Love
8. Keeping up with the Kardashians
9. I Love Money
10. Candy Girls (now I almost didn't count this since I have only seen 1 episode, but Bryan said it didn't matter)
11. Flipping Out (LOVE this show!!)
12. Celebrity Apprentice
13. Sober House
17. Celebrity Rehab
18. Jon and Kate Plus 8
19. The Hills
20. The City
21. The Real World
22. The Real World/Road Rules Challenges
23. The Girls Next Door
24. Super Nanny
25. Wife Swap
26. True Beauty
27. Bromance
28. Tool Academy
29. Making the Band
30. Tough Love (now this one hasn't even started yet, but Bryan made me count it cuz I have it qued up to record lol)
31. The Girls of Hedsor Hall.
32. The First 48
33. Manhunters
34. Charm School

Yeah, that's right, I came up with 3 more, making the grand total 34. The sad thing is that this is only the current shows!!! The list doesn't even include such greats that aren't returning like Flavor of Love and My Life on the D List, nor does it include the non-reality list ie: The Office, Kath and Kim, blah blah blah!

You know what? I don't think I have anything to be ashamed of! I don't watch TV all day, I just record them all day and watch them at nights. So what if I don't have any other form of entertainment, right? So what if I enjoy watching other people make an ass of themselves! I think I owe a big shout out to my DVR!! Thanks DVR, for always being there for me!!!

When Do You Admit You Have a Problem?

Ok, so Bryan and I were having a light-hearted conversation that lead to the amount of television I watch. I claim that I do NOT have a problem, to which he laughs uncontrollably. So, to prove his point, he asks me to come up with a list of just the reality TV shows that I watch. Fine, no big deal.
I make a list of just the current shows that are either on right now or will be returning for another season.
The final count you ask? (As I hang my head in shame).........
31
Holy @#%&! Really? Is that right? That can't be right! I re-read the list.....Yup, that's right!

Wow! Thank goodness for my DVR, that's all I have to say. Without that, I wouldn't be able to uphold my nickname that has so lovingly been given to me....Reality TV Whore. Gee thanks!

So now apparently I need to seek a 12 step program for my Diet Pepsi, shopping and TV watching addictions. If you know of any in the area, please let me know

Spring FORWARD!

So I work every Saturday night, therefore, I work every time change. This past Saturday, as I was getting ready for work, I asked Bryan to change the clock in our bedroom so I would know what time it was when I got up the next day. I went to work, came home and went right to bed at 7am. We have church from 2-5 pm and it was my week to teach the lesson. I had the "Repentance" lesson all ready to go with treats and hand-outs prepared. I slept in until 1:15 so I decided to miss Sacrament meeting and just go to Primary. The kids and I got all showered, dressed and headed off to church at 3pm.....so we thought.
As we got closer to the church, I started passing several members of our ward. "Hmmm, that's odd, a lot of people are going home after Sacrament meeting.." I thought. I looked at the clock in the van. 4:08. "Ut Oh!" I looked at my cell phone. 5:08. "OH NO!!!"
Holy crap! Bryan set the clock BACK, rather than FORWARD!!!! I missed ALL of church!!! I caught my Primary Secretary in the parking lot and apologized profusely. She laughed. I felt like such a moron! No wonder I was well rested, I had slept until 3:15, not 1:15!!! My class was taken care of but I still felt like such a moron! Alexis was very disappointed, but I couldn't stop laughing at the whole situation and that lightened her mood. I told her I would teach her and Logan the lesson anyway since I had it prepared, and I hated to waste my cute handouts! It's not so easy to explain the mishap of setting the clock wrong and missing nursery all together to a 2 year old, on the other hand. When we got home she refused to get out of the car. When she finally did, she went in the house and got her church bag and stood next to the door. Poor Brookie. I took her with me to work to pick up some Girl Scout cookies I had ordered, and a cookie and another trip in the car made everything all better.
Next year, I'll do the clock-changing. Lesson learned. :D
